ROGERSVILLE — A Hawkins County woman whose home was allegedly burgled by her stepbrother last week was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon when it was revealed that among the items he reportedly tried to steal was a .357 revolver.

On Sept. 26, Walter and Angela Mijanovich reported a burglary at their home on Beaver Lane just west of Rogersville after Mr. Mijanovich reportedly caught Shon Dale Tilson in the act.

Tilson, 40, 226 1/2 Hillcrest St., Rogersville, reportedly didn’t make it out of the house with the items he was trying to steal.

Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kenny Lunsford Jr. learned that a Ruger .357 revolver was among the items.

Mrs. Mijanovich reportedly stated it was her husband’s gun and they keep it under their bed.

Tilson was arrested at his home the following morning and charged with aggravated burglary and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was arraigned Monday and released from the Hawkins County Jail on $7,500 bond.

During his investigation, Lunsford learned that Angela Dale Mijanovich, 44, has a felony conviction for delivery of Schedule IV narcotics in 2016. As a convicted felon, Mrs. Mijanovich isn’t supposed to have a gun in the house, Lunsford said.

On Sept. 27, Lunsford went back to the Mijanovich residence to get statements about the burglary and photograph the items Tilson allegedly tried to steal.

“I inquired about the gun and Angela took me into the bedroom and slid a bag over toward me, and stated the gun was in there,” Lunsford said. “I unzipped the bag and found a Ruger .357 Magnum Security Six revolver in a holster.”

Lunsford said he then seized the gun and arrested Mrs. Mijanovich for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

She was arraigned Monday and released on $2,000 bond.

Tilson and Mijanovich are scheduled to appear in Hawkins County Sessions Court again on Oct. 15.
